IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margaret Catherine
Schols
August 4, 1935 – October 24, 2023
Our Dear mother, grandmother, and mother in law left us peacefully to begin a new journey.
Margaret Catherine Schols (Fauser) was born in South Dakota, not far from the Black Hills. She left there as a child with her parents Philip and Helen and came west to LaConner where her brother Earl was born. As a young girl she worked in the bulb fields, at the local diner and her least favorite was the local fish cannery.
After graduating high school in 1953 she left for Washington State College "not an actual university until 1959". Her time was short there as she came home early to marry William "Bill" Schols. They soon left for Alaska where Bill was stationed with the US Army. After Alaska they returned home to raise their 4 children, Tony, Ron, Brian, and Sharrie Lynne. They would be married 67 years until Bills passing in 2020.
In 1966 she amazingly returned to finish her college education at Western Washington State College earning her Education degree. Margaret spent her teaching career at Stanwood High School. Along with teaching German, english and typing she was also in charge of the year book and the German Club. The "Frau" always chaperoned the annual trip to Leavenworth to see the tree lighting. After retiring, her and Bill took to the road for a few years before settling in Arizona, always returning in the late spring to spend the summer at Lake Conner park. Margaret loved the warm weather, enjoyed family camping trips, camera club, sewing, ceramics, tole painting and other artistic interests. Many were blessed by her beautiful projects. An avid knitter and crocheter, in her last years she made beautiful intricate afghans for each family as well as an ornate Christmas Stocking for each family member that will be treasured for all our lives.
Margaret would consider her greatest tragedy to be the loss of her two eldest sons and later the loss of her dear mother and brother whom she loved deeply. She would count as joy, her lifelong relationship with her cousin Lu and close friends Dorothy, Sybil, Marty, Rosemarie, and Mary. Margaret loved her family very much and will be greatly missed by all. She leaves behind a son Brian (Debbie), daughter Sharrie (Norm), grandchildren Heidi, Casey (Camie), Ryan (Danielle), Carley (Shelby), Colbey (Brandi), Hayley, her great grandkids, and numerous nieces, nephews and greats.
Many Many thanks to the wonderful, caring staff at Where the Heart Is in Burlington. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Northwest.
