Maria Magdalena Garcia de Cerrillo passed on Sunday June 11, 2023 at 76 years old.  She is survived by her husband, Juan Cerrillo, her children, Ernesto Cerrillo, Moises Cerrillo, Veronica Espinoza, Noe Cerrillo, Lorena Cerrillo, Josefina Cerrillo-Ramirez, Sara Moreno, Juan Cerrillo and Josue Cerrillo, 25 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Maria known to all as "Mami Nena" was born in Jalisco Mexico and immigrated to the United States with her children and husband in 1976.  She settled in Burlington, Washington in 1977 and lived there until her passing.  She worked as a farmworker in Skagit and Whatcom County for many years until she opened her home daycare business in 2001.  As a daycare provider she met many families and children with whom she maintained lifetime relationships.

She was a devoted Christian, and her love for Jesus Christ was shared with everyone she met.  Throughout the years, she opened her home to many families in need.  If there was need, she could meet, she would commit to it with all her heart.  She was loved by everyone that met her.

Mami Nena's hobbies were knitting and gardening.  She loved spring and summer and spent hours attending to her flower garden. During fall and winter, she would knit scarfs, blankets and hats for her children and grandchildren.  She also loved to cook and always had homemade meals for her family and friends.

For the past year, Mami Nena put up a courageous fight against cancer that ultimately was the cause of her passing.  Her courage was an inspiration to all.

The family wishes to honor Mami Nena's desire to be celebrated with bright colors, her favorite colors were pink and olive green.  Please do not wear full black attire.
