Langenhorst, Maria (Riet) Augustina Johanna Gesina (vanDon) of Mount Vernon, WA, passed away at the age of 91. Beloved wife of the late Hubertus (Bert) Stephanus Langenhorst. Devoted mother to Hubert S. Langenhorst and his partner Tina Danzig, Mary Katherine (Kathy) Williams and her husband, Phillip, Don and his wife Kathleen, Mary Jo Thomas Klopfstein and her husband, Philip, and Ernestina Maria (Tina Marie) Johnston and her husband Christopher. Cherished Oma to Benjamin Williams, Steven Williams, Gregory Williams and his wife Katie, Maria Langenhorst Gannon and her husband Michael, Gregory Langenhorst, Kathryn Langenhorst, Johanna Thomas, Julia Thomas, Stephan Johnston, Kayla Buker and her husband Steven, Adrian Johnston, Luke Johnston, and William (Liam) Johnston. Also survived by many nieces and nephews mainly in The Netherlands and Australia.
Predeceased by her parents Johannes Anthonius vanDon and mother Gesina Maria Catharine Moes, her sister Toos and her husband Wim, her brother Jan and his wife Gina and brother Tonny.
Maria (Riet) was born in Vaals, Limburg, The Netherlands. Her father died when she was two and her family moved to Amsterdam to be near family. Despite the hardships experienced during the war she became a teacher by 19. She met the "love of her life" at 20 and married and immigrated to the US at 25. She was married to Bert for 46 years. Together they successfully raised their five children. Volunteering in many ways for many causes including being an influential member of church organizations, Maria did some teaching and worked for over 16 years for JCPenney, retiring as a supervisor. She had incredible support from her family in the past 20 years, especially from her youngest daughter Tina and her family. Thank you for the love, support and care from all her friends and caregivers.

A time of viewing will be held at Hawthorne Funeral Home, Mount Vernon, WA on Thursday, May 27, 2021 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm.
A Funeral Mass with be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, LaConner, WA on Friday, May 28, 2021 at 10:00am with a graveside service to follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, LaConner, WA.
