Obituary

Marie Grobschmit, 95, of Mt. Vernon WA, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on June 27th, 2015 in Burlington, WA. We celebrate her long, faithful life as family and friends remember her as a wonderful, loving Mother, Grandmother, and sister, a thoughtful and loyal friend. She was a Godly woman of faith and will be greatly missed. Marie was born in Ellingsoy, Norway to Peder and Anna Jorgensen, March 15th of 1920. At the age of eight, she and her family immigrated to the United States, residing in Seattle. She attended Ballard High School graduating in 1939 and then went on to attend Business College. She moved to the Skagit Valley in 1951 after marrying her high school sweetheart William "Bill" Grobschmit. Marie kept busy raising her family and was an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon. She had a gift of music, with a beautiful soprano voice; she sang in the choir and directed a children's choir for many years. She loved to entertain friends and family in her home, loved flowers and gardening, and enjoyed traveling with her husband, friends and family. Marie is preceded in death by her husband William M. Grobschmit, who was the love of her life, her parents Peder and Anna Jorgenson, siblings John Jorgensen and Borghild Bryan, and son Larry Hendricks. Marie is survived by her sister Bjorg Kaldestad of Seattle, sons, Jeff (Linda) Hendricks of Anacortes, David (Tammie) Grobschmit of Mt. Vernon, and daughter Jennie (Randy) Krumm of Stanwood, as well as eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1515 E. College Way, Mt. Vernon WA on Monday, August 10 at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, remembrance donations can be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church Missions Support. Condolences and thoughts may be left on Marie's on-line guestbook at www.hawthornefh.com. Marie's family would like to thank the staff and residents at Creekside Senior Living for their love and caring shown to Marie and family over the past several years. Also, we would like to extend our appreciation to all the staff at Skagit Valley Hospital for the gentle, considerate care given to her and the family most recently.
