Marilyn E. Carlson, 71, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2017 unexpectedly.

She was born in Thief River Falls Minnesota December 29, 1945, the daughter of Alvin Mandt and Agnes Mandt.  She attended Thief River Falls High School and graduated in 1963.

Sometime after graduation she moved to Seattle where she met her future husband Joel Carlson.  They wed in Seattle on November 17, 1968.  After the two were married they settled on the farm in Bow where she resided until her death.

She had been employed within the Skagit Valley Medical Center as a nurse in various departments for decades before retiring around 2008.

She enjoyed travelling and her travels took her to places like Alaska and the Caribbean.  Her last trip, which she loved, was to Hawaii in October of this year. She was also avid in the kitchen and well known for her cooking and baking and always willing to share her recipes and her secrets.

She is survived by her two sons, Kevin Carlson of Bow WA, Daniel Carlson of Marysville WA, her sister and brother-in-law Jean and Paul Lepse of Seattle, WA, 2 nephews, and numerous cousins.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother Alvin and Agnes Mandt, husband Joel Carlson, and an infant daughter Karleen.

A time of viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 10:00am to 4:00pm at Hawthorne Funeral Home, Mount Vernon, WA.

Public graveside services will be held in the Bow Cemetery at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 6, 2018 with public memorial services to follow that day at 2:00 PM at the Edison Lutheran Church at 14201 Church Rd, Bow, WA 98232.
