IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marilyn Jean
Dalseg
February 27, 1944 – July 13, 2024
On Saturday, July 13, 2024, Marilyn Jean Dalseg (Pearson) passed into the waiting arms of her Savior Jesus Christ and was welcomed into heaven.
Marilyn was born February 27, 1944, to Helmer and Helen Pearson. She was the fourth of five children. She attended Mount Vernon, Washington, schools and graduated from high school with the class of 1962. She soon began working as a switchboard operator at the telephone office in downtown Mount Vernon.
Roger recounts that someone "set them up" and he met her after work one day - the beginning of a courtship leading to marriage at her sister's home in Lynnwood on April 24, 1964, and sixty years of marriage.
The couple moved to Conway where they raised their two sons, Rod and Randy. Marilyn then began her thirty year career at Conway School, an ideal place for her fun-loving, caring and bubbly personality. She filled several positions when needed: playground aide, teacher's classroom aide, and cafeteria worker.
Marilyn was also busy serving at church. She loved to help in the kitchen at various functions and for a time she taught Sunday School in the Two's and Three's class. Because of her gentle persuasion abilities, for a number of years she was a successful partner in children's ministries, recruiting volunteers for Vacation Bible School.
In retirement, Marilyn enjoyed traveling, from day trips in Washington to stays at
short-term rentals in Yuma and Surprise, Arizona. She went on numerous cruises to the Caribbean, Mexico and Alaska accompanied by friends and neighbors. And she loved going on several visits to Branson, Missouri, with her family and friends.
Left to mourn her passing are her husband Roger; sons Rod and wife Sara, Randy and wife Gwynne; four grandchildren, Zachary and Tim Dalseg and twins, Ellie and Sidney Dalseg; and sister Betty Plachta. She will be missed by the many children whose lives were touched by her work at Conway School, her extended family, a host of long-time friends and her Emmanuel church family.
Romans 12:10-13 "Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with [all] who are in need. Practice hospitality."
A celebration of Marilyn's life will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mount Vernon.
