Obituary

Marion Ekkelkamp (81) passed away peacefully on November 22nd,2024 at Birchview Memory Care Center in Sedro Woolley. She was born on May 4, 1943, to Henry and Marie Kadyk in Everett, WA. She graduated from Everett High School. At the age of 16, she met the love of her life, Jerry Ekkelkamp of Mount Vernon. They married in 1961 and raised 4 children in Mount Vernon.

She worked for many years at Skagit Regional Health as a receptionist. She also worked at Tulip Town and the Skagit County Fair after she retired. She started to play the piano and organ at an early age and was an organist at the First Christian Reformed Church. She and Jerry loved to go camping with their family and friends. She was a wonderful baker and cook and loved to have her family over to her house any time that she could.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rob and Karla Shepherd of Mount Vernon, son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Ida Ekkelkamp of Mount Vernon, son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Julie Ekkelkamp of Bellingham and daughter and son-in-law, Scott and Heidi Martin of Sedro Woolley; 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Ekkelkamp, her parents, and her siblings, Herman Kadyk, Annette Maas, and Gerry Ackermann.

A Celebration of Life service for Marion will be held on Friday, December 13th at 1:00pm at the First Christian Reformed Church in Mount Vernon with reception following at the church.
