Obituary

The precious soul of Marjorie Elizabeth Easley, 93, passed out of her earthly body on July 12, 2018 at Birchview Memory Care, Sedro Woolley, WA and into the hands of her Lord and Savior JESUS CHRIST. Marjorie was a longtime resident of Skagit county, living near LaConner for over fifty-seven years. She was born in north Texas on February 6, 1925 to Arnton and Melva Weaver and was one of three children. Marjorie was working as a dental assistant in San Francisco when she met and married Navy seaman Emmitt Easley of Oklahoma. Emmitt became a welder in the construction trade after they moved to Washington; eventually making their home within distance of the Texaco Refinery for Emmitt's employment. Marjorie was a dedicated homemaker, excellent cook, a devoted mother to their five children, and a loving Mamaw. Emmitt and Marjorie had friends and lots of relatives in the Longview/ Kelso area; with the family often taking trips there to visit, and sometimes to California to see her father, mother, and sister's family. Marjorie enjoyed family outings, tending to her garden, working in her flower beds, and sharing plums from her trees. She also canned vegetables and salmon caught by Emmitt in the Skagit River. She sang and worshipped God as a member of the Church of Christ in Burlington, WA where she established lasting friendships. She was a blessing to others, was neighborly, looked after the needs of widows, and she provided many dishes for Sunday potlucks. She kept in touch with friends and the extended family by writing letters and sending cards. In later years Marjorie was involved with the Audubon Society because she loved birds and all God's little creatures.
Marjorie is survived by daughters Rebanette (Michael) Weir, Morna Martell; sons Keith (Leota) Easley, Byron (Barbara) Easley and Brent Easley. She is also survived by her sister Martha Thompson, 5 granddaughters, 7 grandsons, 14 great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Arnton and Melva Weaver; brother Frank Weaver and two great grandsons. She will be missed and cherished in our memories. Thanks to everyone who touched Mom's life.
