Marlys Conn passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family at the age of 81 after her short battle with cancer. Marlys was born on the 3rd of April 1929 in Minnie Lake of Barnes County, North Dakota. She moved to Washington in the early 1940's where she attended Mt. Vernon High School and was known to many as "Molly". The majority of her life was lived in Skagit Valley with the exception of fours years spent in California when her husband was in the Navy and stationed aboard ships. She worked at several different restaurants in the valley throughout her life. Marlys was a member of the First Baptist Church and enjoyed attending a prayer group with her many friends. A true Norwegian at heart, she loved making lefse at the holidays. She loved dancing, shopping, bowling, and most of all her family and friends. Marlys was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Helen Stemhagen; daughter Karen Walker; and dog Tootles. Marlys is survived by her husband Kirk Conn; daughters Julie and Randy Butler, of Anacortes, Marla and Frank Jones, of Mt. Vernon; brothers Alan and Janet Stemhagen, of Mt. Vernon, Gary and Patty Stemhagen, of Othello; sisters Joanne and Claude Browning, of Mt. Vernon, Charmaine and Darrell McCormick, of Republic; grandchildren Jeff and Tonya Moshier, of Mt.
