Mary was such a bright light in our lives, a beloved sister, aunt, and friend. For 7 years she fought a vigilant battle with her illness. Through times of great suffering, she somehow managed to always have a ready smile and a genuine concern for the lives and well-being of others.

Mary was born and raised in Skagit County. She spent her early adult life in Mt. Vernon, WA, later residing in Bellingham, WA, which she called home. She lived briefly in San Antonio, TX, and recently, Long Beach, CA, returning to Bellingham to be near family and friends as her days were drawing short. Mary lived a life devoted to God and the essence of her life was in service to others with her generosity of time and resources. The thing that Mary will most be remembered for is her tender and loving heart. She will be missed beyond words.

Mary is survived by her siblings, David (Sue) Maupin of Vancouver, WA, Gary Maupin of Everson, WA, Glenda (John) Marvin of Long Beach, CA, and Sandy Point (Ferndale), WA, her nephews, Brian (Denise) Maupin of Arlington, WA, Keith (Naomi)Maupin of Kona, HI. She has three grand-nephews (Tyson, Blake, and Gunner) and a grand-niece (Lilly) who have been a major source of joy in her life. Mary is also survived by numerous cousins and friends who she chose as family. A Memorial service will be held Monday, January 22, 2018, 2:00pm at Hawthorne Funeral Home, Mount Vernon WA followed by a reception in the Hawthorne Reception Room.
