IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mason Alan
Welmers
June 1, 1978 – March 28, 2024
In loving memory of Mason Alan Welmers, 45 of Concrete WA.
We are saddened to announce his passing on March 28, 2024. Mason was born June 1, 1978, in Mount Vernon WA to Cyndi Strahmann and Randy Welmers.
Mason attended and graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1997. He was an excellent football player, but his true passion was basketball, and he showed this passion for the games through coaching and watching his kids. You could always find Mason in his spare time spending it with his kids teaching them his faith, knowledge, or just fishing.
Mason was a gentle giant but the one thing bigger than he was his heart. He was giving to everyone. He was not afraid to show and spread his faith.
He went on to work several jobs, and throughout his career those jobs included Mount Vernon High School Security Guard, Skagit County Juvenile Corrections, bouncers for various bars, 20-year member of the Local 302 Heavy Equipment Operators and Construction, and his true love and mastery of tattoo artistry. Mason and his brother Jerome opened Brothers Ink Tattoo Studio in Burlington WA in 2009 and he worked there until December 2010. He then went on to work for Sierra Pacific as a crane operator.
In 2008 Mason met Bria Kooy and together they brought in their daughter Kailie into the world into 2010. Mason reconnected with Randi Pressley in April of 2014, and in December of 2020 they married and made their home in Concrete WA.
Mason is survived by his mother Cynthia Stahmann, brother Jerome Welmers, daughter Kailie Welmers of Arlington, sons Shawn Kemp, Andrew Cate, and Logan Cate, his loving wife Randi Welmers, at their family home in Concrete. Mother and Father-in-law Rob and Judy Williams, Aunts Helen Mickelson and Stephanie Benner Miller, Uncle Vince Strahmann, and numerous cousins. He is also survived by brother-in-law James Pressley, Corey Goetz, Steve Nieshe, sister-in-laws Stephanie Goetz and Jennifer Hanlon. Best friends Loren Heinrich's and Christopher Crooker. His brothers from another mother, Billy McKinney, Kyle Murphy, Justin Pendergrast, Rudy Giecek, Zach Stephenson, Jonah Cassidy, and sisters from another Mister Nicole Gonzalez and Stacy Hoffmann. Nieces Boston Welmers, Marissa Huizar (Tess), Analyse Schuller, and Haley Pressley. Nephews Nicklaus Welmers, Zach Link, Lukas Goetz, Christopher Link, Lucas Pressley, and Brody Conrad. Mason is preceded in death by his father Randal Welmers, sister-in-law Tracy Pressley, father-in-law Charles Larry Pressley, and nephew Wesley Nieshe.
