Obituary

Maxine K.A. Cloyd died of natural causes on October 8th, 2023 at the age of 91. She was born on April 1st 1932 in Seattle, WA to Max and Maria Jonientz. She grew up in Seattle and attended Holy Rosary School and Holy Names Academy. Later while working as a telephone operator in Tacoma she met and married William Cloyd from Harrodsburg, KY in 1957. They moved from Seattle to Renton, WA in 1957 where they raised 4 children.

Mitzi loved her family and was a deeply religious women who enjoyed music, singing, ballroom dancing, teaching and sports. She played the violin as a child and was passionate about singing. She sang in the St Anthony's choir for many years and loved to socialize with her choir friends. She taught ballroom dancing at Arthur Murray Dance Studio and in her later years at the Renton and Federal Way Senior Centers, and many individual lessons in-between. She was a superb seamstress and could create or fix anything. She also loved watching all the sports her children were involved in and later years she was a big Seahawks fan.

Mitzi was preceded in death by her husband Bill. She is survived by 2 siblings, Bernard Jonientz and Robert Jonientz, 4 children, Max Cloyd (Kelley), Lisa Anderson (Eugene), Jim Cloyd (Vicki) and Nancy Kulik, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandsons and 1 great-granddaughter.

A funeral service will be held at St Anthony Catholic Church in Renton, WA at 11:00 am on Friday, November 3rd, 2023, followed by a reception at 2:00 at her son Max's home. Internment will follow funeral service at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Kent, WA.

Arrangements are under the care of Hawthorne Funeral Home, Mount Vernon, WA.
