Megan Castellano

Megan Castellano (Tidrington), beloved partner, mother, sister, friend, and lifelong supporter of the people she loved, passed away on September 16, 2026.

Megan was born in Mt. Vernon, Washington, where she grew up surrounded by family and lifelong friends who remained an important part of her life. She graduated from Mt. Vernon High School before attending Washington State University, where she earned her degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies.

After college, Megan moved to Corvallis, Oregon, before eventually settling in Shoreline, Washington. Throughout her career, she found meaningful ways to support and encourage young people through recreation and community programs. She worked at Corvallis Sports Park, the YMCA of Greater Seattle, and the American Diabetes Association, bringing her energy, compassion, and dedication to each place she served.

Her greatest joy in life was being a mom. She was the biggest supporter her children, Kyson and Cooper, could have asked for. She spent countless hours coaching their teams, serving as team manager, cheering from the sidelines, and driving what seemed like endless miles to practices, games, and everything in between. She showed up again and again with encouragement, enthusiasm, and unwavering love. Her kids knew that no matter what they were doing, Megan would be there cheering them on.

Megan loved country music, WSU football (GO COUGS!), traveling, and spending time with the people she cared about. More recently, she had discovered a love of golf and was enjoying learning and playing the game. She had a way of finding joy in experiences, adventures, and the people around her.

Megan is survived by her partner, Ryan Spencer; her children, Kyson and Cooper Castellano, whom she shared with her former husband and co-parent, Cody Castellano; and her sister, Tiffany (Tidrington) Vopalensky, and Tiffany's partner, Matt Stewart. She was preceded in death by her mother, Penna “Penny” Tidrington, and her father, Michael Tidrington.

Megan's love, laughter, generosity, and steadfast support will be deeply missed by her family, friends, colleagues, and all the young people whose lives she touched. Her greatest legacy will be the love she gave so freely, especially to her children, whom she supported with every ounce of her heart.

Megan will be remembered not simply for the places she worked or the things she accomplished, but for the way she showed up for the people she loved, and she will be loved and missed every day.

A public celebration of Megan's life will be held, with details to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Alzheimer's Association , an organization Megan supported through various efforts following the loss of her mother, Penny, to Alzheimer's disease.
