Obituary

  1. Lorraine Gundersen, 83, of Bow, passed away peacefully with the Lord in her heart and by her side January 18, 2021.

She was born August 10, 1937 in Burlington, the eldest child of the late Leonard and Margaret Omdal.

Lorraine grew up with her three siblings on the family dairy farm in Bow. She graduated from Burlington-Edison High School with the class of 1955 and attended PLU.  She was united in marriage to the love of her life Richard Gundersen in September 1957 at Edison Lutheran Church.

She enjoyed camping with family, boating and in later years traveling with her siblings and friends. She worked at Skagit State Bank in the Burlington and Mt. Vernon branches from it's opening until her retirement minus a few years to raise her young family and while she joined her husband in his construction career with stints in Missoula Montana and Anderson California. Lorraine loved her work, the people she worked with, meeting and getting to know the customers.  She had an amazing interest and ability to meet people, know who they were related to and their children.

She will be remembered for her love of family, friends, welcoming cup of coffee, conversation, family dinners, faith and generosity.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard in 1991. She is survived by her sons, Keith (Glenda), Kevin (Kristi), Kenneth (Babette), grandchildren, Jared (Amy), Daniel (Charlie), Jillian (Daryl) Visser, Alyssa (Brian) Schoonover and nine great grandchildren, siblings, Betty (John) Cox, Karen Omdal and Marvin (Jeanie) Omdal and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her family would like to thank the staff at Where the Heart Is for their courageous work supporting Lorraine with companionship and loving care.

Due to current restrictions on gatherings, a celebration of Lorraine's life is scheduled for July 10th. A private graveside service was held January 22nd in Bow.  In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Omdal/Gundersen Scholarship Fund c/o Edison Lutheran Church or your favorite charity.
