IN LOVING MEMORY OF

Batchelor-Deleeuw
January 20, 1931 – March 19, 2021
Myrtle Batchelor-Deleeuw, 90, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2021in Wenatchee, WA.
Myrtle was born on a farm in southern Missouri to John and Florence Swearingen in 1931. She attended Tulsa University where she earned a bachelor's degree and met her future husband, James T Batchelor, Jr. After they married, they adopted two children, Marcus in April 1961, and Joyce in December 1962. When her children were older, Myrtle went back to work working for Exxon as an Administrative Assistant until her retirement.
Myrtle enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She was also a very good writer and co-authored three books with her sister, Ethel Mullins, that told the stories of their childhood growing up on the farm.
Mom was very active in the church being a Christian from a young age. She knew the Bible very well and taught Sunday School to many children. She also wrote and directed children's Christmas plays for the church as well as sang in the church choir. She loved her church and volunteering there.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James T. Batchelor, Jr in 1994. Her survivors include two children, Marcus Batchelor, and Joyce West (Jeffrey) and three grandchildren. She remarried in 1998 to Ed DeLeeuw who passed away in 2003. She has three stepchildren, Patricia Vanderpol (Alvin), Claudia Latimer (Tom), and Don DeLeeuw (Agnes) and six step grandchildren.
