Nancy Gilbert – Trownsell April 2, 1940 – June 21, 2026
Nancy was born in Sedro Woolley, WA on April 2, 1940, to parents Ralph and Ruth (Therrien) Waite. Nancy passed away peacefully at her home in Mount Vernon, WA. on June 21, 2026, with her family by her side. She was 86 years old.
Nancy grew up in Clear Lake, WA, the youngest of four children. She attended Clear Lake School and graduated from Sedro Woolley High School in 1958.
She married Marvin Gilbert of (Big Lake) Mount Vernon, WA in November of that year. They had four children two of which proceeded her in death. They resided in Mount Vernon, WA and were married 27 years. In 1987 she married William (Bud) Trownsell. They lived most of their life in Everett, WA. They celebrated 39 years of marriage in January of 2026. William (Bud) had two children.
After graduating from Highschool Nancy worked as a telephone operator at West Coast Telephone Company in Mount Vernon, WA, Northern State Hospital in the medical records department for 20 years until its closure. While working at Northern State Hospital she attended the Medical Records Correspondence School at night and obtained an Accredited Records Technology (ART) degree. She worked in various medical facilities such as Skagit Valley Medical Center, Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, WA, and was promoted to Assistant Director as well as Medical Records Director at United General Hospital in Sedro Woolley, WA. She finished her career at the Washington State Division of Child Support Enforcement in Everett, WA and retired.
Nancy loved the Lord Jesus Christ. She accepted Him at the age of 13 years as her Lord and Savior along with her favorite Aunt Mildred Therrien. Nancy loved her family. Family was everything to her. She enjoyed her Grandchildren and Great Grand Children. As well as her Nieces and Nephews. She had a special cousin Judy Nelson who was like a sister to her and a sister-in-law Shirley Olmstead who was her best friend for 50 years. She had a wonderful time with these ladies and made many memories with them.
She loved music, playing the piano and singing with her family. She passed this talent and love on to her children and Grandchildren. She sang at various churches and events. She also played handbells at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon, WA. Other hobbies included quilting, knitting and crocheting.
Nancy was involved in the Elks Organization and served as Vice President and President of Emblem Club, the America Legion Ladies Auxiliary, in addition to was also involved in various groups at the churches she attended.
Nancy was proceeded in death by her Parents Ralph and Ruth Waite, Sister and Brother in-law Noreen and Arthur Muhlbeier, Sister in-law Muriel Waite, Cousin Judy Nelson, Nephew James Muhlbeier, Daughters Jodi and Tamara Jo Gilbert and Marvin Gilbert.
She is survived by Husband William (Bud) Trownsell, Brother Stanley Waite (Peggy), Sister in-law Donna Waite, Daughter and Son-in law Toni Mailliard (Michael), Son Kevin Gilbert, Stepson and Daughter William Daily (Ethel), Michele Daily, Grandchildren Kayla Ibarra (Johnny), Nolan Mailliard, Shane Mailliard Step Grandchildren, Stephen and Kevin Daily, Cyril Isip and Czarina Isip and four Great Grandchildren, Kayden and Sophia Ibarra, Step Great Grandchildren Ethan and Evan Isip and numerous Nieces and Nephews.
The family would like to thank Hospice of the Northwest for their wonderful care Nancy received before her passing.
Her service will be held on Saturday August 15, 2026, at 1:00pm. Bethany Covenant Church 1318 S. 18th St. Mt. Vernon, WA 98274
