Obituary

Opal L. Malone, 89 of Sedro Woolley passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on March 24, 2009. She was born November 20th, 1919 in Northwood, North Dakota. She grew up in that small Scandinavian town and then attended Augsburg College in Minneapolis where she performed with the world famous Augsburg Choir. After college, she moved to Skagit Valley where she met and married the love of her life, Patrick Malone. Together they owned and operated Malone Music Company in Sedro Woolley and developed the first Television Cable System in the Pacific Northwest. The Malones enjoyed an early retirement that included traveling and wintering in Apache Junction, Arizona. Opal was an accomplished musician and enjoyed directing several area Church choirs. Her favorite activates included singing, sewing, dancing, playing bingo and shooting pool. She was preceded in death by her husband Patrick V. Malone and her son Patrick W. Malone. She is survived by her daughters Michele Malone-Wilkes and husband Gary of Queen Creek, Arizona and Laney Moran and husband Terry of Burlington; Grandchildren, Misty Moran of Burlington, Brent Malone of La Conner and Babette Gunderson of La Conner. At her request no public services will be held. She will be deeply missed by family and friends.
