IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patricia Proctor
Skelton
August 22, 1928 – December 15, 2022
Patricia P Skelton passed away peacefully on December 15, 2022, in Mount Vernon, WA.
Patricia was born on August 22,1928 to William H and Llelwyn Proctor in Everett, WA. The Great Depression climate proved formative to this hardworking compassionate soul. She grew up in a stone house built by her father's hands in Alderwood Manor. Her mother was a talented artist and seamstress who instilled a lifetime love of fiber arts. Pat knit her way through Edmonds High School and the University of Washington where she majored in Business Administration and was a member of the Synchronized Swim Team. Marriage to Clifford W Skelton December 16,1950 was soon followed by 5 children.
Volunteer work teaching differently abled children to swim led a return to the UW for a master's degree in special education and a career with Seattle Public Schools. She would gladly have continued living in her Fauntleroy waterfront home and rode the teaching career to a full conclusion but with the last child out of the home she and Cliff moved north to an 80-acre llama farm in Skagit County where they built a beautiful geodesic home and farmstead. There her lifelong knitting habit blossomed as a fearless student and teacher of fiber arts. She knew the name, temperament, and fiber quality of each of her 100+ llama and sheep. Their wool was shorn, washed, carded, dyed, spun, and woven or knit into beautiful functional art by her own hands. Her prodigious work capacity included significant care and attention for 12 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren along with numerous others in the spirit of adoption who need never doubt they were known and loved.
Preceding Pat in death are her parents, husband Cliff, daughter Lynn Johnson (David), and sister Terry Edgers (Bob). Surviving Pat are children Stuart Skelton (Denise) of Mount Vernon, WA, Craig Skelton (Babs) of Snohomish, WA, Becky Goodell (Jerry Burr) of Sedro Woolley, WA, and Terry Simonds (Bob) of Post Falls ID
