Obituary

Paul Corrigan Martin passed away on July 7, 2016, at 59 years old. Remembered as a fun-loving man, Paul will be greatly missed by his large family and those who knew him.

Paul was born on December 4, 1956, to Robert and Josephine Martin. The eighth of ten siblings, he grew up and attended school in Longview, Washington.

Paul attended Mark Morris High School and later earned his high school certificate from Lower Columbia College. He began his career at Ross-Simmons Hardwood Lumber in Longview, where he worked for 17 years, until the company went out of business.

Paul later moved to Burlington and worked at Edco, a metal fabricator in Mount Vernon. Seeking further education, he attended Skagit Valley College, where he completed training in lean manufacturing. He was then hired at Boeing. Paul greatly enjoyed working at the Boeing Everett Factory. He called the position his dream job and was working toward retirement.

When not working, Paul could often be found taking care of his car, reading, or exercising in the pool at his gym. He very much enjoyed swimming and was known to hop in any body of water, whether Lake Samish by his sister's house or a mountain lake on a hike. He also loved Hawaii and took several vacations there.

Paul enjoyed spending time with his family, either going on hikes or just having dinner. He was a lover of food and would rarely show up empty handed to a family meal.

Paul is remembered as a happy man who cared for his family. He was known for joking around and teasing others. One sibling said he'll remember Paul as having a big heart and a smile on his face.

Paul was preceded in death by his mother, who passed away when he was a teenager, and his father, who passed away in 2008,

Paul is survived by his nine siblings: Pat Martin, Sally Prouty, Mike Martin, Pete Martin, Sue Panuska, Judy Strode, Dan Martin, Jean Imus, and Joe Martin. He is also survived by a large extended family, including many brothers- and sisters-in-law, cousins, nephews, and nieces.

His family will hold a private service to remember him. Donations may be made in his name to the Whatcom Community College Foundation.
