Obituary

Paul Shields, 27, of Mount Vernon, WA passed away at home on Monday, November 21st.

He was born on September 13, 1989 in Oxnard CA, the son of Dave and Peggy (Brown) Shields.

Paul lived in Ventura County CA while his father was deployed overseas in the Military. In June 2000, the family moved to Washington, where he graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 2006. After high school, he attended Skagit Valley College's Culinary Arts Program. Following his schooling, he started his career.

While in California, Paul began his goal of becoming an Eagle Scout. After many years of hard work, he was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout in 2006. Paul did not stop working in scouting with the achievement of his Eagle, but continued to serve as Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 4057 of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mount Vernon 1st Ward.

Paul loved to attend church and was currently attending the Young Single Adult Ward in Anacortes, WA.

Paul is survived by his grandparents, Verl & Amy Shields; his parents Dave & Peggy Shields; step mother Darlene Fullerton of Roswell NM; Great Aunt and Uncle Earl & Pearl Emmell of NJ; Uncles William Emmell III, Edward Brown, Allen Brown & Frank Brown of PA; Aunt Betty Jasinski of Warminster PA; Uncle Verl & Aunt Lisa Shields of Springfield, OR; his older sister, Dee-Anna Blevins of Roswell, NM; his older brothers Joseph & his wife Ashley Shields of Bellflower, CA & Stephen LeFevre, of Roswell NM and his younger sister Joy Shields of Mount Vernon, WA. Also by nieces & nephews Tamara Lyons, Samuel Shields, Dustin Shields & Athena Lee Lyons of NM.

Graveside service will be held at 11AM on Friday, December 2, 2016 at Hawthorne Memorial Park in Mount Vernon, WA. Following there will be a celebration of Paul's life at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 1700 Hazel St. Mount Vernon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Boy Scouts of America, American Cancer Society, or The NOAH Center in Stanwood, WA in his name.
