Obituary

Paul Edward Vander Pol, 79, of Mount Vernon, WA passed away peacefully on February 26, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.  Paul was born in Coupeville, WA on October 18, 1937 to Gus and Barbara Vander Pol.  He graduated from Oak Harbor High School and the following day he and his family moved to Seattle, WA.  It was there that Paul met the love of his life Loretta De Boer.  The two were married on August 30, 1957 and together had 4 beautiful children.

Paul began working for the family business at age 16 and Paul loved all areas of the trucking industry throughout his life.  Music was a huge part of Paul's life and he was a wonderful singer.  He was part of a barbershop chorus in Seattle and Portland, OR and also a member of the Kingsmen in Seattle.  He was a member of his church choir for many years of his life.  The most important thing in Paul's life was being a devoted father, husband, and friend to the people he loved.

Paul is survived by his wife Loretta; son Brent and Brenda, son Duane, daughter Nadine and Fred Byeman, and son Kurtis and Cheryl.  He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and their spouses and 4 great grandsons.

Paul's lifelong faith gave him great comfort as he valiantly battled cancer the last 4 years of his life.  The family would like to thank Dr. M. Johnson, Dr. Jafari, and the wonderful staff at the Skagit Cancer Center.  A special thanks to Hospice of the Northwest for taking such loving care of Paul the last few months of his life.

A celebration of Life will be held March 25, 2017 at 2:00pm at Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers please make donations to World Vision.

Oh how we loved him!
