Obituary

Randal Alan "Randy" Vater passed peacefully at home on December 21, 2020, after a 10 month battle with Glioblastoma. Randy was born December 19, 1958 in Portland OR to Virgil and Martha (Jones) Vater.

Randy was very involved with his church, First Baptist Church Monroe and he missed not being able to attend due to cancer treatments. Randy's job with Zoller Industries was extremely important to him and he enjoyed traveling the US promoting his company and training new users. He had an immense respect for Mr. Zoller and his co-workers.

Randy always wanted to make people happy, and he did.  He enjoyed sharing the word of God with them and serving others through his as sound manager for services and for Christian bands, and youth outreach.

He was preceded in death by his mother Marty and father Virgil, his grandparents on both sides and sister-in-law Kathy Vater.

Randy is survived by his 2 sons – David, of Lake Stevens WA and Daniel, of Tillamook OR as well as his former spouse and friend Bonnie Vater.  Also his brother Roger Vater of Marysville WA, brother and sister-in-law Ron and Jana Vater of Burlington WA, and sister Renee (Vater) and brother-in-law Lou Farley of Peoria AZ.  Randy had several beloved nieces and nephews and 2 very special grandnieces and 1 grandnephew that he was able to enjoy time with for the past 5 months.  Randy had so many wonderful friends, including his pastor Dale Sorgen of Monroe and special friend Kathy Foss of Tukwila WA.

Special thanks to the caring staff at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, Alvord Brain Tumor Center at University of Washington, and the team at Burlington Physical Therapy.

A celebration of life will be planned at a later date due to Covid-19.
