On Saturday, June 23, 2018 we lost our hubby, our dad, grandpa, brother, and friend. Richard Earl DeMaster fought courageously against cancer for 13 years. He worked hard to be healthy so he could remain with his family and be productive. He was a man of strong faith in God as his Creator and Savior.
Born in Wisconsin, he attended Calvin College in Michigan where he met Evangeline Magee. They taught school in Montana, married in 1963 and had their first child, James (Zaday) there. They moved to Massachusetts for more teaching. Son Douglas (Kathy) and daughter Rachel (Tony) were born there. A change in career to accounting took the family to Illinois and in 1983 to Washington. As a numbers man, he was always pleased that his birthday included three 8's—8, 28 and 38—and noted near the end that it was appropriate to add 18 to these dates. We love him and will miss his humor and wisdom.
Rich loved the outdoors, hiking, yard work, Mariner baseball, and volunteer bookkeeping at Bargains Galore, Alger Community Church, Alger Food Bank, Sedro Woolley Food Bank and ALTA Theatre Company.
He loved and was faithful to his family. He is survived by his wife, Evangeline Magee DeMaster, three children (listed above), and three grandsons Daniel Josue DeMaster, Jayson Earl Lanera and Ryder Mario Lanera, and four brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Antoinette, and brother Daniel Ellsworth DeMaster.
He experienced great joy in life and great faith in God, especially in the last several years. He was completely at peace in his passing.
The family would like to thank Visiting Angels Tami and Lisa and Hospice of the Northwest for such good care: Diane, Dianna and Dr. Leslie Estep.
"In quietness and in confidence shall be your strength." Isaiah 30:15
