Richard Thomas Ellison, 89, of Mount Vernon, WA passed away peacefully on December 4, 2022.

Richard was born on February 25, 1933, in Chicago, IL to Charles and Helen Ellison.

Richard started working at the age of 9 with his sister Mary.  Together they sold vegetables from his garden to their neighbors and Richard continued working until he retired at the age of 62.  He joined the US Army at 18 years old.  Richard was married to Nancy at 24 years old and together they had 3 children: Richard, Scott, and David.

After Richard retired, he moved from California to Washington State.  That is where he met his best friend, Jill.

Richard had a great many hobbies.  He enjoyed walking and hiking, bicycling, visiting air museums, traveling by train, gong out to dinner with friends, and watching old movies and documentaries.  He also loved his church and reading scripture.  He was a member of Bayview Edison Church as well as the Anacortes and Mount Vernon Senior Centers.

Richard is survived by his son Richard Jr.  He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy, sons Scotty and David and his parents Charles and Helen.  He was also preceded in death by his brothers Charles and Jim, his twin sister Mary and his uncle Benjamin.

A graveside service will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, WA on Friday, January 6, 2023 at 11:00am.
