Obituary

Rick E Turner, 61, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 29th, 2012. Rick lived in the best of times according to him. He was born at Rowley Hospital, in Mount Vernon, Washington. He was a resident of Mount Vernon, Washington. Rick graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1968. After college, he became a dairy farmer at the age of 20 and has worked in the dairy/farming industry ever since. For the past 20 years he worked at Conway Feed. Rick was united in marriage to Ruth Jensen on August 18, 1972 and just recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary with a cruise to Alaska. Rick was an avid Cougar fan, loved oldies, his 1965 Mustang and had a deep appreciation for nature and the world God created. He loved beautiful sunsets and moon risings and the beauty of Skagit Valley. He especially liked to be by the water with his favorite saying being "Heaven seems a little closer in a place by the water". Rick is well known for his strong handshake, his endearing laugh and his love for his family. Rick is survived by his wife Ruth; children: Karen Turner, Chris (Maris) Turner, Rich (Scarlet) Turner, grandchildren, Tyler, Ellie and Violet Turner, his mother, Madeen Estes; sisters and brother in laws: Michelle (Jim) Fraser, Barbara (Melvin) Hall, Nancy Wood; brother and sister in law: Jeff (Sherri) Turner, and many nieces and nephews, and dear friends. Preceeding him in death is his father and stepmother, Richard (Dick) and Agnes Turner, grandparents, Jack and Blanche Turner, Bill and Em Kahns; Please join Rick's family at a Celebration of Life service at First Christian Reformed Church, 701 W Blackburn Rd, Mount Vernon, WA at 1:00 pm Saturday, October 6, 2012. Rick has been laid to rest at the Hawthorne Funeral Home and Memorial Park. The site will be clearly marked (just down from the office and close to the driveway on the right) should you choose to pay your respects after the service on Saturday.
