Obituary

Robert Lewis Barnts, 82 of Mount Vernon, WA passed away on December 23, 2018 with his family at his side. Robert was born on November 2, 1936 in Sterling, Colorado and was the son of the late Lewis and Louise (Mary Louise Hoffman) Barnts. Robert graduated from Sterling High School in 1954. In high school Robert was known for being an incredible baritone player and was the best dancer in school. After graduation he joined the US Navy and served 4 years before being honorably discharged in 1959. Robert worked at the Logan County Hospital as a Surgical/OR Tech for a short time before moving to Denver to continue his education at Colorado University and Denver University.
Robert married the love of his life, Joyce (DeFoe) Barnts in 1963 in Sterling, CO. The couple moved to Seattle, WA in 1968 to start a new career. Bob spent his working years in the orthopedic industry as a distributor for DePuy, a major orthopedic manufacturer. He enjoyed his time working with orthopedic doctors and surgical personnel, teaching them how to use his products. Bob took great pride in his work and his expertise of orthopedic procedures. Bob always supplied the best products for his doctors and their patients.
Bob had many hobbies and loved fishing for steelhead on the local rivers and lakes. He was an avid Seattle Sounders and Seattle Seahawks fan. Bob's greatest passion was spending time with his children and his grandchildren.
Robert is survived by his wife, Joyce Barnts; sons, Joe (Elena), Mike, Dan (Ben), and Brett (Galilee) Barnts; daughter, Brooke (Kurt); nine grandchildren, Jesse (Heidi) Barnts, Tone' (Ryan) Moody, Jake Barnts, Taylor (Alex) Cain, Jasmyne (Mac) Barnts, Ty Van Diest, Ruby Barnts, Jace Harmerly, Jeff Barnts. He is also survived by one sister Janet Jensen. Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Jack and sister, Sandra Wagner.
