Obituary

Robert (Bob) H. Schroedel was born at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tacoma, Washington on May 2, 1918. After graduating from Lincoln High School in Tacoma he spent time in Los Angeles and Hawai'i. In 1941 he began work for Seattle-Tacoma Shipbuilding Corporation of Seattle until May of 1943. He entered the U.S. Army in June of 1943 and fought in the Philippine theater of World War II. With Japan's surrender he acted as Provost Sergeant of the Nagoya Area. Arriving back in the states he left the army in January 1946. Living in Seattle he married Genevieve Dale from Mount Vernon on August 24, 1946. In 1949 they moved to Federal Way where they raised their 3 children. After a few years of working in the import business and for Reichold Chemical, he went to work for the Boeing Company, initially in Seattle and later in Auburn. After Genevieve's death, and his retirement in the early 1970s, he moved to Tacoma and later to Auburn, where in 1983 he married Virginia Woolman. After Virginia's death in 1994 he moved to Normandy Park. In 2006 he moved to Claremont California where he lived until his death August 12, 2012 with his daughter Jean Peretz, her husband Paul and son John. Bob is survived by his three children Richard, Jean, and Sara, two step daughters Joyce and Jeannie, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday August 17th at Hawthorne Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 1825 E. College Way, Mt. Vernon, Washington.
