January 5, 1929 – October 11, 2025
Lifelong resident of Skagit County, Robert Lyle Johnson passed away in his home on October 11, 2025 in Mount Vernon at the age of 96. He was born on January 5, 1929, to Oscar and Esther Lindberg Johnson in Burlington, WA.
He graduated from Mount Vernon High School Class of 1947. After school he went into construction with his father. He was drafted into the Army in February 1951. After discharge in 1953 he returned to construction.
He married Elizabeth Olson in Mount Vernon September 4, 1953. Bob and Liz enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and traveling. They had two daughters, Cynthia and Pamela.
Bob worked for Cascade Frozen Foods and Stokley Van Camp and then finished his career at Skagit Valley Hospital for 20 years as a maintenance engineer, retiring in 1991.
After Liz's passing, Bob met and married Rita Mountain, where they gained new friendships and traveled.
Bob enjoyed his grandchildren very much and hearing about their life adventures. Bob was known as "Mr. Fix It", he could fix anything or do any special project. He looked forward to his lunch dates with friends Dave and Jack. Bob was a huge Seattle Mariner and Husky fan. His family will continue the tradition of his famous Swedish pancakes on Christmas morning.
Bob was a member of Bethany Covenant Church.
Bob is survived by his daughter Cynthia and son-in-law Mitch Johnson. His grandchildren Lauren and Joseph Johnson and sisters-in-law Donna Johnson and Kristina Radcliffe Allen and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him jn death are his parents, wife Liz and daughter Pamela. His brothers Erle and Ramon Johnson and sister Anita Buckner.
