Robert Douglas Scott

November 23, 1953- October 29, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Douglas Scott, a beloved father, brother, and friend, who left this world peacefully in his bed on October 29, 2024, at the age of 70. Born on November 23 1953, in Omaha, Nebraska, Rob's journey took him from the Midwest to the breathtaking landscapes of Skagit Valley, Washington, where he spent much of his life surrounded by the beauty of the outdoors, which he loved deeply.

Rob was a cherished son of Nathaniel "Bud" C. Scott, MD, and Ruth M. Jones Scott. He was preceded in death by his devoted parents, his sister Marjorie Scott Stolley, and his beloved wife, Sharon Redden Scott, with whom he shared a profound love since their marriage on July 4, 1974. Rob's legacy continues through his surviving family, including his two brothers, Jim Scott (Mary) and Howard Scott (Roberta), as well as his brother-in-law, John Stolley (Marjorie). He is also survived by his three children: Michael Scott, Heather Scott Caputo (Toby), Kathryn Scott Werring (Jeffrey R.), and his adored grandchildren, Cassia Scott Thomas (Derek), Anna Scott, Robin Werring, Violet Werring and Jeffrey L. Werring. Additionally, he leaves behind cherished cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who will forever hold his memory in their hearts.

Rob's educational journey began at LaConner High School in LaConnor, Washington, and extended to Skagit Valley College where he met the love of his life Sherry, and her son Michael, whom he later adopted. In 2003, Rob and Sharon graduated from Puget Sound Christian College with a Bachelor's degrees in Christian Ministries, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their lives dedicated to serving God and their community.

Throughout his career, Rob held various jobs, many in hardware stores and industrial fields, but it was his calling as "Pastor Rob" in the early 2000s that filled his heart with purpose. His ministry spanned several churches, including Anacortes Christian Church, Marysville Christian Church, and Amity Christian Church. His daughters were especially blessed by his officiating their weddings, creating memories that will be cherished for generations to come.

An avid music lover, Rob played guitar from a young age, bringing joy to his family through melodies that resonated with love. His musical talents were often shared in church bands, creating a rich tapestry of memories through music that will echo in the hearts of those he touched.

Rob's passion for the outdoors was evident in his eagerness to explore nature with his family. He taught them to appreciate God's glory through the beauty of mountains, forests, and beaches, instilling a deep love for the earth in his children and grandchildren.

In honor of Rob's life and legacy, we invite all who knew and loved him to join in a Memorial Picnic planned for the upcoming spring, with details to be announced later. This gathering will serve as a tribute to Rob's spirit, where stories can be shared, and memories cherished.

Robert was a man of deep faith, unwavering love, and boundless kindness. His impact on the lives of his family, friends, and community will forever be felt. Though he may have departed from this world, his spirit will live on through the countless lives he touched. Rest in peace, dear Rob; you will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
