Obituary

Roger Dalseg

Roger Allen Dalseg, age 87, was called home to heaven on Monday, December 8, 2025. There he was met by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and a host of family and friends who preceded him.

Roger was born in Stanwood, Washington on March 15,1938 to Ralph and Lillian Dalseg. He was the oldest of five siblings who were raised on the family farm on Conway Hill, a farm begun by his grandmother. Roger attended Conway School where he and his friends were on the basketball team. He graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1956.

It seemed that Roger inherited both the love and the knack for all things mechanical from his father Ralph. In his younger days Roger built a race car, found a driver, and raced his car at tracks around the Northwest. Early in his working career he was employed by Boeing to help manufacture heat shields for the Apollo space program. When NASA took over the project, Roger began many years of work at Barnett Implement in Mount Vernon. Roger's parts counter became the local hangout for the farmers of Skagit County.

Around this time Roger was introduced to a young lady, Marilyn Pearson, who made a positive impression. They were married in her sister's home in Lynnwood on April 24, 1964. They celebrated their 60th anniversary shortly before her passing in 2024.

Roger was raised by parents who modeled service as part of their Christian lifestyle. Bible reading, church attendance, and service were priorities. Roger was a long-time member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where he was often found with his boys making repairs around the building. For many years Roger served as church treasurer and was a member of the Trustee Board.

During vacations Roger loved to gather his family for a good road trip, often traveling with friends and neighbors. He and Marilyn also enjoyed cruises in the Caribbean, Mexico, and Alaska.

Whether at his job or around the family acreage, Roger kept busy. He loved being outside, tending the cattle he raised, or driving his tractor to care for the land. With the help of friends, he built their family home on Conway Hill where he and Marilyn raised their two boys, Rod and Randy, and where he lived until his passing.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Elaine Bakke.

Left to mourn his passing are his two sons, Rod (Sara) and Randy (Gwynne) Dalseg; grandchildren Zachary, Tim, Ellie, & Sidney Dalseg; three brothers - Raymond (Doretta), Ralph Jr. (Gwen), & Don (Kathy) Dalseg; brother-in-law Gordon Bakke; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; and a host of Emmanuel church family, friends, and Conway neighbors.

Colossians 3:23-24 "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving."

A memorial for Roger will be held at Emmanuel Baptist on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 1pm.
