IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Roger A
Sayer
October 20, 2024
Roger A Sayer, a resident of Mount Vernon, passed away October 20, 2024 at the age of 83 after several years of fighting cancers. He was born January 22, 1941 to Clayton J and Frances M Sayer in Lake Stevens, WA. The family moved to a home next to his grandparents farm in Cedardale south of Mount Vernon. Roger attended Conway Grade School. Later the family moved to Mount Vernon and he graduated in 1959 from MVHS. After attending Skagit Valley College, Roger and his friends, Bob Barker and Dan Olson enlisted in the US Army for 3 years. Returning home after their service and finishing at Skagit Valley College and then he finished college at the University of Washington graduating with a Bachelor's in Business Administration with an accounting major. He passed the CPA exam and worked for CPA firms in Seattle before moving back to Mount Vernon where he operated his own practice until summer of 2012. Roger truly enjoyed his work and his clients who he considered as friends as much as clients.
Roger and his wife Nancy were married in 1983 and enjoyed many years golfing in and around the Skagit Valley. They enjoyed many golf vacations to Lake Chelan and other locations. Nancy relished those "rare" occasions when she scored lower than him, and she still has the scorecard to prove it.
Roger is survived by his wife, Nancy at the family home in Mount Vernon; stepdaughters: Sara (Jeff) Willard, of Sedro Woolley and Stacey (Glen) Slick of Sedro Woolley; grandchildren: Devin (Alivia) Willard, Kailey Willard, Carsten Reynolds; great granddaughter: Kennedy Willard; many nephews, their families, many cousins and all of Nancy's large family will miss him.
