Ronald T Barker, 76, of Concrete WA passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on January 13, 2022. He was born in Quogue, Long Island, NY on February 9, 1945, to Erma and Ralph Barker. Ron had one brother Richard Barker. They resided in Westhampton NY.
Ron was a 20-year Veteran of the US Navy. After graduating high school, he joined the US Navy in August 1963 and was honorably discharged in August 1983. Ron continued serving in the US Navy Reserves for an additional 10 years. He was a Navy Petty Officer 1st Class, skilled in aviation mechanics. After Ron's discharge, he worked at Boeing, had his own windshield repair business, drove DART bus for Community Transit and worked in Real Estate for Century 21.
Ron and Valerie were married in August 1984 and made their home in Lynnwood WA for 25 years before retiring to Concrete WA. With 5 children between them they became a family of 7.
Ron was a member of the Baha'i Faith for over 50 years. He served as Treasurer for Snohomish SW Baha'i Assembly for many years and participated in community events. Ron and Valerie enjoyed the annual Baha'i Council visit to Neah Bay WA. They also visited the Holy Land in Haifa, Israel, in February 2002 and enjoyed the fellowship of Bahai's from all over the world.
Ron loved fishing, camping, RVing, Cribbage, Scrabble and meeting new people. He and Valerie traveled across the US several times visiting family, friends, and exploring new places along the way.
Ron leaves behind his beloved wife, Valerie, sons - Richard Barker of Susanville CA, Ralph Barker of Lemoore CA, daughters - Susan and husband Gordon Towne of Concrete WA and Sandra and husband Ralph Prothero of Mount Vernon WA, 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and another great granddaughter due in April.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents Erma and Ralph Barker, son Dale D Allison "Chuck" and 3 grandchildren
A small graveside service to be held at Hawthorne Funeral Home on Friday January 21 at 11:00 am
