Rosina (Rose) Camille Lanni was born to Giacomo and Princippia Lanni on March 10, 1921 in Naples, Italy. She was the oldest of eight children. At the age of seven, she and her parents immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island, settling in Jersey City, New Jersey. In 1946, Rose traveled to Italy to marry Domenico Dall'Acqua. After their October 6th wedding day in Genoa Sestri, they honeymooned throughout Italy for a year. Rose and Dominico returned to Jersey City. They had two daughters, Pamela Rose and Maria Lucia. Domenico died of lung cancer on May 31, 1953. Rose returned to business school and worked on Wall Street for Merrill Lynch, Fenner & Smith. She then served as the Executive Assistant to the Director of City Hall in Jersey City. Rose married Joseph Watkins Cain in Jersey City, NJ on January 6, 1961. In 1963, they moved to Mount Vernon. They had two sons, Kelly Joseph and Michael Watkins. Rose was a devout Catholic and a member of the Mt. Vernon Immaculate Conception Church. She was a leader of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), bringing many into the Catholic faith. She looked forward to being a lector on Sunday mornings. Rose taught her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren the importance of family; being strong in faith; being tolerant of the views of others; and lauded the importance of education and striving to learn throughout a lifetime. Loving; kind; positive; accepting of all; non-judgmental; a great listener; and diverse are all terms that help describe Rose. She led a wonderful, enriched life. When her home was filled with family and laughter, Rose was celebrating. Rose is survived by two sisters Francis Campbell of Wisconsin and Teresa O'Connor of New Jersey; brother Mario Lanni of New Jersey; daughter Pamela Robinette (Arnold); daughter Maria Swift (Charles); son Kelly Cain (Angela); son Michael Cain (Lela); granddaughter Krista McCool (Travis); grandson Devin Robinette (Megan Ford); granddaughter Lanni Waschke (Paul); grandson Hunter Swift; granddaughter Annemarie Cain; grandson Dominic Cain; granddaughter Brittany Cain; grandson Duncan Cain; great grandsons Ethan McCool, Connor McCool, and Dario Waschke; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend a sincere "Thank You" to both Dr. Eric Stark and to Hospice Care for their dedication to Rose's health care. A private, burial service will be held for family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Northwest or a favorite charity.
