Rosemary Jarrells, born September 25, 1965, in Portland, Oregon, passed away unexpectedly on 04/19/2026. She made her home in Sedro-Woolley, Washington, where she built a life centered on love, family, and community.
Rosemary is survived by her devoted husband, Jim Jarrells; her children Jesse Rodriguez (Bonita Rodriguez), Angelica Metcalf (Greg Metcalf), and Sarah Rodriguez; and her stepchildren Brandon and Jordan Jarrells. She was a deeply cherished grandmother to Selena Rodriguez (great-granddaughters Camilia and Catalina), Mylea (great-granddaughters Elaina and Elliana), Sophia, Eli, Aaliyah, Ethan, Damion, Rileigh, Madisyn, Clara, and Joseph. She is also survived by her loving sisters Cynthia Ruiz, Elizabeth Ruiz (II), Andrew Ruiz along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her son Carlos Rodriguez; her mother Antonia Herevia; her father Margarito Ruiz; and her sister Elizabeth Ruiz (I).
Rosemary dedicated much of her life to caring for others as a CNA, but her greatest calling was her family. She was a loving wife, a devoted mother, and an extraordinary grandmother and great-grandmother who gave endlessly of herself. Her home was a place of comfort, laughter, and full plates—no one ever left empty handed, and no one ever left without feeling loved. She had a special gift for making every grandchild feel seen and treasured. She raised and cared for many of them as her own, always making sure they had what they needed—from clothes and toys to a warm meal and a safe place to call home. She never forgot a birthday or Christmas, planning months in advance and tucking away gifts she found on her many shopping adventures.
Rosemary loved life’s simple joys—shopping trips, garage sales, thrift stores, and especially outings with her beloved sister Cynthia, who she said made her feel like a kid again. She took pride in her home and in caring for her husband, preparing his lunches with love each day. She found happiness in gathering with family and friends, whether it was summer barbecues, church visits where she sang alongside her grandchildren, or evenings spent dancing and laughing at the American Legion. She had a vibrant spirit, a contagious laugh, and a deep love for music, dancing, and togetherness.
Rosemary also had a tender heart for animals. She adored her pets—her dogs Mini, Luna, and Toughy, her beloved cat Rowina, her birds, and even her famously spoiled dog Esme (who I’m sure was anxiously waiting to greet her mom), who always found her way onto the couch despite the rules. Her animals were her family, and she cared for them with the same devotion she gave to everyone she loved.
She had sayings that her family will carry with them forever: “There’s more time than life,” “Jesus put angels on you,” and “Lord willing.” These words now serve as a lasting reminder of her faith, her love, and her ever-present care. Her favorite holiday was Halloween—so much so that it was also her Anniversary. Each year, she transformed her home into a place of magic and joy for her grandchildren. Christmas was just as special, filled with thoughtful gifts, careful planning, and her unmistakable love in every detail.
More than anything, Rosemary will be remembered for the way she loved—fiercely, generously, and without condition. She checked in often, worried deeply, gave freely, and made sure everyone around her felt cared for.
A celebration of Rosemary’s life will be held at the American Legion in Sedro-Woolley on May 16, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to bring a dish to share as we gather to honor her memory with some of her favorite foods, stories, and laughter—just as she would have wanted.
