Sandra Jayne
Ruyle
August 16, 1938 – January 17, 2022
Fritz and Gertrude Savage welcomed Sandra Jayne into their lives on August 16, 1938, in Bellingham, WA, three years later followed by her little brother Jack. On June 8, 1956, at the tender age of 17, she married Donnie Max Ruyle at the Lutheran Church in Concrete, WA. Their union produced Ronald and Kimberly. Sandy passed away in Burlington, WA on January 17, 2022.
Sandra worked for NW Electric around 1968 as a secretary. In 1969 she went to work for Cascade Natural Gas as a cashier/ secretary in Sedro Woolley and later in their Mount Vernon office. In 1974 she became the first female to read meters for them. Never letting hard work stand in her way, she became the first woman to work on their underground gas line crew, working right along with the guys. She retired from Cascade Natural Gas in 1994.
Her needle work was exquisite, from quilting, sewing, needle point, to crocheted snowflakes. Sandy was a determined person that excelled at anything she wanted to learn. She played on bowling league. Later in life she taught herself how to play her keyboard. She was a member of the Skagina Junior Women's Club along with Grace Cochrum Orthopedic Guild.
In 1994 her and Don retired. Taking several trips around the USA, staying at many Thousand Trails in their RV. They loved to play in pool tournaments along the way.
Sandy left behind her husband Donnie Max Ruyle of 66 years. She also behind her son Ronald Mark Ruyle and his wife Tana Loop-Ruyle and their children Aaron Mark Ruyle (Alicia Sward) and Angela Marie Ruyle (Vlad DeWyntyr); her daughter Kimberley Jayne Jurkovich (Steve Jurkovich) and her daughter Kendra Jayne Woods. As well as her brother Jack Benjamin Savage and his children Rodney Benjamin Savage and Lori Lynne Swift.
Historical note: Sandra was a descendant of the Few, Yates, Weatherspoon, Bylund, Savage, and Forester families. She is a direct descendant of James Few "The Regulator" and William Few Jr., Senator of Georgia, who signed the United States Constitution on September 17, 1787.
They lived the "American Dream."
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at 11:00am at Hawthorne Memorial Park, Mount Vernon, WA.
