Selma Anderson Bergstrom passed away August 30, 2013, peacefully and secure in her faith at age 96.Selma was born December 17, 1917 to Edison pioneers Herman and Anne Gurine Anderson. She is a graduate of Edison High School. Selma married Edward F. Bergstrom August 3, 1939. They spent most of their married life in Conway and Mt. Vernon.Selma's first job after Business School was at the Co-op in Mt. Vernon. After her children were in school, she worked many years at the Skagit Valley Blood Bank, first as secretary to Dr. Lempert and then to Dr. Black. She was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school and serving on numerous committees. She was a volunteer in Intensive Care at Skagit Valley Hospital and the YMCA. Selma had a lifelong love of the outdoors, enjoying gardening, fishing and camping. She and Ed also enjoyed exploring the country with their travel trailer with friends and family.Selma leaves behind daughter Ann Curran and sons Fred, John (Jeannine) and Jim (Karen) Bergstrom and grandchildren Eric (Kim), Tim, Melanie, Bryan (Kelly) and Jeffrey (Sharra) Bergstrom, Johnna (Guy) Michaelsen and great-grandchildren Anika, Aden, Stella, Soren and Arya. Selma was predeceased by her parents, husband Ed, son-in-law Dennis Curran, great-grandchildren Elina Laen Bergstrom and siblings Anders (Hjordes and Cleone), Ben, Simon (Gertrude), Harold (Norma), Albert (Jean), Severin (Ane) and Gus (Dorothy) Anderson and Hanna (Adolph) Frederickson, Nina (Paul) Larson and Anna (Theol) Holland.The family wishes to express their thanks to the many caregivers at the Josephine Sunset Home for their kindness and compassion.
