IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sharon
Speedy
January 17, 1933 – October 4, 2020
On Sunday, October 4, 2020, Sharon Speedy, age 87, left this world, with a trail of sparkles and love following her.
Sharon Norby met her husband, Robert Speedy when the two were attending the University of Idaho. They married on December 16, 1953, and were together until Robert's passing on June 8, 2004. Robert's Air force military service took them to many places, with each of their four children being born in different states, finally settling permanently in Mount Vernon, WA in 1971 after he left the service.
Sharon will be remembered for many things, from welcoming neighbor children in for cookies, playing card games around the table with friends and family. Her gift of creativity that made every holiday a special one, the oil paintings she did, her beautiful penmanship, the many earrings she crafted and freely gifted, to teaching others how to craft toothbrush rugs, and the countless ice cream cakes she created at Bresler's 33 Flavors, along with all the recipes she shared. During her many years at Safeway, customers often chose her check stand because of her kindness and warmth. And always, always for her beautiful radiant smile.
Sharon was proceeded in death by her husband, Robert Speedy, sister, Connie Davis, brother Larry Norby, parents Martin and Phyllis Norby, who we rejoice that she is reunited with again.
In addition to the many lives she impacted, she leaves a legacy with her children, Leslie Speedy, Martin (Sandi) Speedy, Katie Speedy, Eric Speedy, grandchildren, Mandy McCoy, Tyler (Molly) Schumacher, great grandchildren, Freda McCoy, Leeroy and George Schumacher, and sister, Anita Beebe Morfin, along with many many other loved relatives and friends.
We will do our best to carry on the qualities we are grateful she passed on to us. To be giving, have good ethics, whatever you do; do your best, show compassion, kindness and respect, apologize when wrong, let others know you love them and always see the beauty in little things.. Thank you for being an amazing teacher
As the family is at peace with her dancing and smiling among the stars, there will be no memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, we believe Sharon would love for you to send a bouquet to a loved one that can't see visitors, to brighten their day. Or in honor of her giving nature, please donate to your favorite charity.
