June 10, 1942 – July 13, 2016
On July 13th 2016, Sharon Kaye Struthers passed away at Providence Hospital Everett. She is now resting peacefully waiting for her everlasting home with her Lord and Savior whom she loved with deep conviction. She was born June 10, 1942 in Seattle Washington , on Queen Anne to Kelly and Alice Pearl Ruble.
As an infant her family moved to Colville WA where she and her parents welcomed three more children. Ron, Rita and Rozella. She attended grade school at Colville Adventist School . Sharon loved growing up in Colville where she spent endless hours riding her horse Peggy. She enjoyed spending her summers swimming, fishing and water skiing. Her winters were spent tobogganing and iceskating with friends and family. Sharon' s family moved to Spokane in 1957 where she attended Spokane Junior Academy , Upper Columbia Academy in Spangle WA . She graduated from Mt. Ellis Academy in Bozeman MT class of 1960. She met Daryl Struthers in Spangle WA . They were the first couple to marry in the Linwood Seventh Day Adventist Church in Spokane WA on June 10, 1962. The couple welcomed their first daughter Lisa on February 28, 1965. Daryl and Sharon moved to Mount Vernon WA the summer of 1965. On the 20th of March in 1969 they welcomed their second daughter Lori. She spent the remaining years of her life in Mount Vernon .
Sharon was an excellent cook. She especially loved baking during Christmas season. Another holiday that she enjoyed was Easter. Sharon would have Easter egg hunts with hundreds of eggs for her children and their friends. The tradition was carried on for her grandchildren. Aside from being a great cook, Sharon was very athletic. She was a great left-handed softball pitcher, swimmer, and diver. One of her favorite hobbies was gardening, she was especially fond of her flowers. Sharon would have pots, planters and hanging baskets filled with beautiful flowers. Music was also very important to Sharon . She was an accomplished piano player and she loved to sing hymns.
Sharon was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church . She enjoyed many summers and took great pride in leading the Church's ' Vacation Bible School .
She is survived by her two daughters, Lisa Bowser of Mount Vernon WA and Lori Struthers of Burlington WA , her 5 grandchildren, and one great grandchild. She is also survived by all three of her siblings, brother Ron Ruble of Spokane WA , and sisters Rita Everett and Rozella Stroud of Mount Vernon WA . She was proceeded in death by her parents.
Sharon' s memorial service will be held Thursday, July 21 2016, at 2:00 P.M. in the Mount Vernon Seventh Day Adventist Church located at 4520 E College Way , Mount Vernon , WA 98273 .
