Sherry Lynne Nelles passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord on January 1, 2017 at Mountain Glenn Living in Mount Vernon, WA. She was born in Prince Rupert, B.C. February 4, 1943 to Gladys and Murray Conn. As a baby, Sherry moved to Mount Vernon where she attended Washington Elementary School through 6th grade. During that time she served on the school's Safety Patrol, took ballet lessons and played the piano. In addition she was a good student and enjoyed reading. Sherry went to Mount Vernon High School graduating in 1961. During high school she worked at the Lincoln Theater. Not long after high school she married Doug Barber and had 2 children, David of Mount Vernon and Lynne from Kamloops.
Sherry is survived by her brother Steven Conn of Mt. Vernon; two children David (Lynne) Barber and Lynne Lucas; grandsons Nathan Barber of Mt. Vernon and Garrett Barber of Bellingham.
Sherry worked in education for the Upper Skagit Tribe and she had her own business in the crabbing and fishing industry. Sherry was involved with the Territorial Daughters and Friendship Circle at Salem Lutheran Church. Memorials are suggested to Salem Lutheran Church and the Skagit Historical Society. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 21, 2017, 1:00pm at Salem Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon.
