Leaving behind a devoted husband and adoring family and friends Shirley Erickson died on September 14. 2010. She was born to Anton and Ethel Ajax Wognild on April 19, 1930 in Mt. Vernon. She attended local schools and graduated from Mt. Vernon High School. She married Robert Sanders in 1948 and moved to Sedro Woolley where she raised her three children. She married Robert Erickson in 1984 and together they enjoyed traveling with their fifth wheel and making many new friends along the way. They especially enjoyed their winters in Wellton, Arizona with supportive and wonderful friends. Shirley was a lifelong member of Mount Vernon Emblem Club and served as Washington State Emblem Club president as well as holding many other offices, she received many honors for her charitable works within the organization. She is survived by her husband, Robert Erickson of Sedro Woolley, daughter Vicki Sanders of California, daughter Toni Wolfgang and her husband Jan of California, daughter Elaine Klansnic and her husband Jim of Seattle, daughter Carrie Kemper of Smokey Point, son Mike Erickson and his wife Colleen of Everett. She is also survived by her sister, LouAnn Miller of Bremerton, 10 grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Shirley was especially fond of her best friend and favorite cousin Annetter Minkler who was like a sister to her. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son Tom Sanders. The world is a better place because Shirley was in it.
