Shirley Jean Regalia, 78, was at home with family when she peacefully passed away and went to live with her Lord, Jesus Christ on Thursday, July 20, 2017.

Shirley was born in Ames, Iowa on July 22, 1938 to Alvin Ronald (Ron) and Leila Seibert Kooser. After graduating from high school, Shirley went on to fulfill her dream of becoming a nurse by attending nursing school in Des Moines, Iowa.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Gaylord Oppedal, her husband, Donald Regalia, and her siblings; Phillip, Joseph, Ann, Ronald, and her step sons; Don and Jon. She is survived by her brother, Raymond, and her twin sister, Sally. Her children; Kirstin (Shawn) DeWeese, Craig (Lisa) Oppedal, and Karen (Mike) Zielinski, as well as her step daughters; Kathy (Dave) Darlington, and Karen (Morris) Ray. Shirley was blessed with 22 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and many wonderful friends.

Shirley was an amazing, life affirming woman who deeply loved her family and her dogs. She enjoyed making greeting cards so that she could send cheer to many people. She loved to sing, laugh, read the Bible, and was an extremely active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She will be missed beyond measure.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. On Saturday, August 19, 2017, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1515 East College Way, Mount Vernon, Washington.
