Obituary

Sidney Tiemersma, 78, passed away on September 21, 2021, at home in Mount Vernon, WA. The son of Clarence and Dorthey Tiemersma.


He is survived by his wife Karen Nowadnick-Tiemersma, his daughter Susan Sear Comstock of Park, MI, son Scott Tiemersma (Karol) of Grand Rapids, MI, daughter Joan Enockson (Sid) of Laurens, IA, and daughter Jan Robertson (Terry) of Mount Vernon, WA, from his previous marriage to Lois Jongsma; daughter Sydney Tiemersma-Symonette (Robert) of Nassau, Bahamas and his two stepsons Jason Leander (Carole) of Anacortes, WA and Jeffrey Leander of Mount Vernon, WA. He is also survived by grandchildren Lindsey Sear, George Tiemersma, Lucas and Ethan Van Holland, Ashley and Brady Geleynse and Stella and Dylan Leander. Sid is survived by his brothers Jake (Dee) Tiemersma of Sequim, WA and John (Eunice) Tiemersma of Crestwood, IL. He is preceded by his parents, and his son in law Patrick Sear.


Sid spent his first 5 years on the family dairy farm in Chula Vista, CA. From there they moved to Lynden, WA before moving to south Mount Vernon, WA where the family continued dairy farming as Cedardale Farms.
He graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1961 and joined the army following graduation. He then went into partnership with his father on the dairy farm in Mount Vernon.


Sid enjoyed his fellowship with the LaConner Rotary, his daily morning breakfast club and his golf leagues. He served on the Farm Bureau Board and on Drainage District #10. Sid helped his community and neighbors in so many other ways as well.
He was a lifelong member of the Mount Vernon Christian Reformed Church and supporter of the Mount Vernon Christian School. He served as board members for both.


There will be a graveside service for Sid Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at 11:30am at Hawthorne Memorial Park, Mount Vernon, WA. Family and Friends are invited. If you have not been fully vaccinated the family requests that you wear a mask for social interaction.
