Sofia Ibarra de Gonzales passed away August 19, 2018 with her family by her side.  She was born September 18, 1943 Tula, Tamaulipas, Mexico. She lived in Texas for a while and then her and her husband decided to settle and raise their family in Mount Vernon, WA.  she enjoyed cooking large meals for her big family.  She had a green thumb and beautiful garden to show for it.  Sofia loved attending family fiestas and dancing when she had the chance.  The door to her home was always open to all her family no matter the circumstances.  She was preceded in death by her parents Leonardo Ibarra Lopez and Susana Rodriguez Hinojosa, her husband of 52 years Juan Antonio Gonzales, and her youngest daughter Sophie Gonzales.  She is survived by her six children, Martina (Gregorio) Carreon, Juan Antonio (Tomasa Cortez) Gonzales, Roslinda Gonzales (Francisco Caballero-Blancas), Francisco  "Frank" Javier Gonzales and partner Marilene Silva, Julio Cesar (Marta) Gonzales, Anna Beries Gonzales and her fiancé Julio Ceasar Vasquez, her 20 beautiful grandchildren and 3 treasured great grandchildren. A viewing will be held from 12-7pm, Thursday August 23, 2018 at Hawthorne Funeral Home, Mount Vernon, WA.  A Funeral Mass will be held Friday August 24, 2018, 12:15pm at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Mount Vernon, WA with a Burial at Hawthorne Memorial Park and reception potluck in the Hawthorne Reception Room.  Sofia's legacy will continue to live on through her loving family.  She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
