Obituary

Stanley passed away July 22, 2010 after a very long and confining illness. He was born November 12, 1925 in Lake McMurray to parents Carl and Anna Bruhn. He was the youngest of nine children. He was known affectionately to friends and neighbors as "Bud". Stan attended Sedro-Woolley High School for three years and graduated from Everett High School while working nights at Walton Plywood. After graduation he followed a family tradition and enlisted in the Navy. He served proudly for three years on the "U.S. Hill" and was Honorably Discharged January 2, 1951. His education continued at Everett Community College and the University of Washington Law School. He graduated in 1954. He was initiated into Sigma Chi Fraternity in 1952. Stanley served as Skagit County Deputy Prosecutor, and practiced individually for three years prior to joining Bill Bannister in a partnership that lasted 26 years.. Many of the young lawyers who worked with them are still serving the people of Skagit County. With mixed emotions Stan left Bill Bannister and the firm when he was elected Superior Court Judge. He served for Two Terms and retired in 1997.. He filled his retirement with golf at the Skagit Golf and Country Club, duck and pheasant hunting, fishing and skiing with family and friends. He and his wife Marlene shared a love of traditional jazz and traveled from Seattle to Boston to hear top bands. He was active in Rotary and other service organizations.. Despite his exciting career the most important part of Stan's life was his family and his friends. He will be remembered as a loving fun husband, father, grandfather and friend with a wonderful sense of humor. Stan is survived by his wife of 38 years, Marlene, his daughter Elizabeth Stewart (John), granddaughters, Whitney and Carter. His daughter Barbara Sinnett and grandson Brendan. Two step-sons Alan and Jerry Frank and two step grandsons Jason and Bryan Frank. Many favorite nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother and eight brothers and sisters.
