Obituary

Stephen Lee Savage was born on June 14, 1955 in Mount Vernon, WA. He passed away on October 29, 2017 knowing that he would be joining his beloved parents, Elaine and Charles Savage and his dear brother, Alan Savage in heaven.

A talented artist, Steve was a graduate of Fine Art Painting from the Seattle Art Institute. He also held a degree in Electronics from Skagit Valley College. He drove bus for the Mt. Vernon School District for the past 12 years (which he thoroughly enjoyed).

Steve was a kind and thoughtful man; a gentle being who was an artistic introvert, yet whom also adored others. He was often found quietly caring for those in need without a desire to be noticed or lauded for doing so.

He enjoyed and collected comic books, played guitar (but never for an audience), was an aficionado of jazz, blues and rock music; aware of fascinating facts and stories surrounding the musicians and was an avid lover of Seattle sports teams (he and his brother, Alan were often the winners of their Fantasy Football League). His sharp mind knew facts and stats with instant recall.

His nieces have many fond memories going to Mariners games and going to see the Marvel movies with him and their late father, Alan Savage. Steve always found ways to identify with others such as sharing a love of Buffy the Vampire Slayer with his nieces, attending musical events his brothers and nephews and nieces performed in and sharing treasured art books with budding artists.

Always a kind and interested conversationalist, he was usually at the center of a fascinating conversation at family gatherings. He loved his dog Judy Blue Eyes immensely (who was adopted by a nice young girl). Steve was a great hugger, was easy-going and didn't ask much from this world. He will be so very missed.

He is survived by his sister, Rose Ellen Savage, brothers Norm Savage and John Savage, Sisters in Law Cathy Savage and Deanne Savage, Nieces Alicia Savage, Amanda Savage and Breanna Savage and Nephews Robert Savage, Ben Portis and Tom Savage.

The family wishes to thank the "family" at the MVSD Bus Barn whose kindness and generosity went above and beyond being just work mates of Steve. The family is also very grateful of assistance from Hospice, Visiting Angels and Meals on Wheels.
