Steven "Steve" Drake passed away unexpectedly on May 20, 2026, at the age of 57. He was born on October 12, 1968, in Sedro-Woolley, Washington, to Linda and Ted Drake.

Steve grew up with a love of baseball and remained a devoted fan throughout his life. If you knew him, you knew he was a lifelong Rickey Henderson fan. Before beginning his career at Walton Beverage, Steve worked in the sports memorabilia and trading card industry, combining his passion for sports with his work.

Steve was known for his infectious smile and unwavering optimism. No matter how his day was going, if you asked how he was doing, his answer was almost always the same: "Living the dream!" It wasn't just something he said—it was how he chose to live. He genuinely loved what he did, and the people he worked with became like family. His years at Walton Beverage brought him great pride, lasting friendships, and countless stories.

Over the years, Steve enjoyed playing softball and golf, but in more recent years he found happiness in life's simple pleasures. You could often find him celebrating his famous "7/7 Fridays" at Gene's Pub in Burlington, riding his motorcycle whenever the weather cooperated, relaxing at home, or spending time with the people he loved most.

Steve was a lifelong fan of Motley Crüe and Poison, but he would proudly tell anyone that the best concert he ever attended was Hilary Duff—with his daughter. It perfectly captured who Steve was. No matter what his own interests were, the people he loved always came first.

Steve was a devoted father. He never missed a hockey game, never ignored a phone call, and was the kind of dad who showed up without hesitation. If there was a lesson to be learned from a questionable decision, that conversation could always wait until after he had made sure his daughter was okay. His love was steady, unconditional, and always present.

Steve was also a proud brother and uncle. He shared a close bond with his sister, Serina, and always had her back, no matter what. He loved being an uncle to David and Matthew and was a constant source of love, support, and encouragement throughout their lives. Family meant everything to Steve, and he was always there when he was needed.

As much as Steve loved being a father, brother, and uncle, becoming "Grandpa Steak" was one of the greatest joys of his life. He cherished every opportunity to spend time with his grandson, JD, proudly introducing him to one of his favorite meals—country fried steak—which earned him the nickname that will forever bring smiles to those who knew them. The bond they shared was one of pure joy, laughter, and unconditional love.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Linda and Ted Drake, and his nephew, Matthew.

He is survived by his daughter, Alyssa; his beloved grandson, JD; his sister, Serina; his nephew, David; and many extended family members, friends, coworkers, and loved ones who will forever miss his humor, kindness, generosity, and unwavering presence.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at the Bellingham Cruise Terminal. Food and drinks will be served.

Steve hated funerals. He wouldn't want a room full of quiet tears and whispered condolences. Instead, he would want the people he loved to gather together, share stories, laugh until they cried, raise a glass in his honor, and celebrate a life that was lived with a smile.
