IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Syndee Ann
Compton
April 14, 2025
Syndee Ann Compton
April 6, 1955-April 14, 2025
Syndee Ann Compton, a radiant spirit whose creativity and zest for life inspired all who knew her, passed away on April 14, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on April 6, 1955, Syndee lived with an unyielding passion for beauty, style, and vitality.
As a child, Syndee was naturally athletic. She learned to swim at a very young age and could often be found swimming laps in her backyard pools, playing Marco Polo, or attempting tricky dives from the diving board. Syndee was a fast runner and would challenge anyone to a race, always winning. She excelled in gymnastics as well, and loved choreographing dance routines which often led to living room recitals and garage concerts.
A beautiful redhead, Syndee was an artist at heart. Her love for fashion, hair, art and music defined her remarkable life.
With her natural beauty and her family's long history in the "picture business", Syndee began a career as an extra in television. She could be seen weekly on popular shows such as Happy Days and The Rockford Files. It was always a joy to her family to see her on television. Soon, she began attending the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, where her talents blossomed. Syndee's entrepreneurial drive then led her to own several thriving businesses, the first being "Granny's"- Granny's was a highly sought-after custom-made clothing establishment, often frequented by up-and-coming musicians like Todd Rundgren and Tom Petty. Syndee was known for sewing without a pattern; she just had an eye for detail. Always impeccably dressed, Syndee was an outstanding seamstress and designer, creating garments that embodied her distinctive vision.
Syndee attended cosmetology school in California before relocating with her family to the San Juan Islands in Washington. Soon after settling on Lopez Island she would open the Village Salon. She enjoyed finally having her own hair salon, and her whole family, along with many locals, came in regularly for haircuts, perms, and to catch up on the local happenings. She enjoyed the change from the glamour and glitz of Hollywood to the lush trees and serene water views of the Pacific Northwest. It had been a dream come true to design and operate a beauty shop. The interior colors she chose were reflective of the peacefulness of the island and to this day her family still refers to that color palette as Beauty Shop Green.
A fabulous cook, she channeled her creativity into crafting healthy, vibrant dishes, reflecting her passion for nourishing both body and soul. If you were fortunate to have her soup, you were rich.
Syndee's devotion extended to those she loved and to the world around her. Fiercely loyal, she cherished her family and loved ones. Syndee had a deep affinity for all animals, often adopting those in need to give them a loving home. Syndee always looked out for the underdog, wanting to lend a hand when she saw someone in need. Syndee leaves behind a legacy of artistry, vibrant energy, and love. She will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her and being loved by her.
Syndee was preceded in death by her loving grandparents, aunts & uncles, and the best parents in the world, Donna and Buck Compton.
Syndee will be profoundly missed by her family who survive her: daughter: Samantha Compton; son: Shannon Compton; sister: Tracy Compton (Tim Loving); nieces: Lyndsie and Hayley Compton; and special cousins: Jan and Dean Shuttleworth.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to a local animal shelter in Syndee's honor.
