Miller
October 4, 1955 – June 3, 2021
Terry L. Miller, left this world with dignity and grace after his eight-year battle with Posterior Cortical Atrophy (PCA), a rare brain disease with no known cause. He was 65 born in San Bernardino CA to Carl and Maxine Miller (McGhin) October 04,1955.
He was the loving husband of Julie Miller (Sorensen) and shared 22 years together.
Terry served in the Coast Guard 1975 - 1979. One of the ships Terry served on was the USCGC Cuyahoga, the Cuyahoga was hit by a freighter in Chesapeake Bay near the mouth of the Potomac River while on patrol at night and sunk October 20,1978. 18 shipmates survived, 11 were killed. Terry had left the ship 3 days earlier, for his new post at the Coast Guard Search and Rescue Center in San Francisco when he heard of the accident and loss of friends and shipmates. This always had a profound effect on Terry.
The Coast Guard holds a Memorial Service every year on October 20th, Terry looked forward to going to Yorktown VA. for the memorial and seeing his friends/shipmates.
Terry was a Millwright and worked on a lot of big projects, he built cranes for the navy and led the 2007 expansion at the Seattle Tacoma (SeaTac) airport, to name a few of his accomplishments. Terry was preceded in death by his Mother Maxine, Father Carl, Sisters Nikki Davis, Linda Yates, Brothers Larry Miller, Gary Miller and his beloved Son Matthew Carl Miller.
He is survived by his loving wife Julie and his Daughters Jennifer (Jason) Ghioto, Nicole (Steven) Cochran
Shannon Miller Knagge. 8 grandchildren Savannah and Asher Ghioto, Emily, Liam and Dewbee Cochran, Ella and Lucas Knagge and Cy Reed; brother David Miller and sister Sandy Roe (Dave); nieces Erin (Rob) Pischke, Sherilyn Miller (Mike Logan), Dawn Chase, Cyndi Roberts, and Tara Roe; nephews James Chase Jr and Brian Roe.
and 1 Great Niece Sophie Logan.
A private memorial service will be planned at a later date by the family.
