IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Thomas Carl
Weindorf
May 29, 1956 – December 15, 2021
Thomas Carl Weindorf was born on a glorious spring Tuesday morning May 29, 1956 in McNary, Arizona.
Tom is the second son born to Valeria and Luther Weindorf, with whom he spent his first 2 years living with his parents on the Apache Indian reservation. In 1960, Tom relocated with his missionary family to Japan where he lived in Tokyo and Mito. In 1961, Mark John was born to the family in Mito, Japan. Tom returned with his family to Seattle, Washington in 1966 after the family's missionary assignment was completed. Tom was confirmed in 1970 and then later that year graduated from Salem Elementary Lutheran school (Edmunds, Washington). Tom attended Northwestern Lutheran Academy (Mobridge, South Dakota) in 1974. Tom attended 1 year at University of Washington, and then decided to attend Dr. Martin Luther College (New Ulm, Minnesota) with a Bachelor of Science in Education. Tom taught Lutheran grade school in Baraboo,, Wisconsin for several years, and then relocated to Southern California to help establish Messiah Lutheran Grade School in North Hollywood, California where he taught for 3 years. Tom was married twice with both marriages ending in divorce. After teaching, Tom made a career transition to the insurance industry where he worked at AAL/Thrivent, Farmers, and Kemper agencies in the San Fernando California valley area. Tom was well loved, and was promoted quickly in his career to office manager. Tom lived for some time in Sylmar, California with his brother Mark (and wife Eva) for several years. After his mother's passing, Tom moved to Mount Vernon, Washington to help take care of his father Luther. Tom faithfully attended St. Luke ELS Church (Mount Vernon, WA) with his father. In November 2021, Tom developed aggressive cancer and survived for a few weeks after diagnosis. Tom passed into Glory on a Wednesday afternoon at the conclusion of devotion (John 3:16) with his father and brother. Tom's mortal remains will be cremated at Hawthorne Funeral Home and Memorial Park (Mount Vernon, WA). It was Tom's wish to be interred with his mother and father upon his father's passing.
Tom was kind and gentle, with a wonderful sense of humor; and always gave freely to help his church and family members. Tom devoted much of his professional and personal life to serving his WELS Lutheran churches: St. John (Baraboo, WI), Our Redeemer (Santa Barbara, CA), and Messiah/St. Paul's (North Hollywood, CA). Tom is survived by his father Luther; and siblings Paul, Mark, Hans, and Annette.
Revelation 14, v13: "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them." (KJV)
