Obituary

Todd Andrew Woodruff, with his wife Carrie by his side, passed away at age 52 in Burlington, Washington on November 7, 2022 after a two year battle with Glioblastoma (brain cancer).

Known to friends as "Woody," Todd was born in Boise, Idaho on August 8, 1970. He was the first son, and second child to Patty and Harry Woodruff.

Moving to Washington in 1974, Todd grew up playing in the woods on Mercer Island with his buddy, Steve Weyant; and hanging out at Luther Burbank Park with his sister, Debby. Todd moved to Bellevue during his high school years, where he graduated from Sammamish High School with Steve and other Phantom Lake pals. Todd made many lifelong friends there, including Chris Newlove, Doug Nelson, and Tony Almazan. Their love and support has been apparent through to the very end of Todd's life.

Todd joined the United States Marine Corps in 1990. He proudly served in places like Southern California, Okinawa, and Somalia. Shortly after leaving the Marine Corps, Todd's daughter Amanda was born in Anaheim, California in 1995. Always proud of his daughter, he also had the immense pleasure of being a grandpa to her son Asik in more recent years.

Todd had some rocky years with lots of moves from California, to Washington, to Texas, and back to Washington. After a prolonged "growing up" period, Todd became clean and sober in 2004. That's when he began to put himself and his life together in earnest. Todd embarked on a fulfilling career as an IT manager, coached youth soccer (Go Mighty Sunflowers!), played keeper for recreational teams, and trained as a marathon runner; all while embracing and following AA's Ten Steps. It was during this time that he had the good fortune to meet Carrie DeGloria. He had found his true love! They were married on August 1, 2018. Todd often told Carrie how proud he was to be her husband! While their time together wasn't anywhere near long enough, it was filled with the joy of building a house together, attending many thrilling Sounders events, and embarking on many exciting travel adventures, including a trip to Hawaii this past summer. Todd was also an avid golfer, loved listening to Metallica while driving his VW R32, aka "Little Blue", around the scenic roads of Skagit County. Todd will always be remembered as someone with a great sense of humor and a love for thrills, which could brighten anyone's day.

Todd's passing was preceded by his grandparents on both sides of the family: John Woodruff, Eloise Gardner Montgomery, John Robert Young Jr., and Lamora Frye Young; and by his unforgettable cat, Jeep. Todd is survived by his beloved wife, Carrie Woodruff; daughter, Amanda Hernandez, (Joseph); grandson, Asik Hernandez; bonus son, Riley Morgan and bonus daughter, Elli Morgan; father, Harry Woodruff of Meridian, Idaho; and mother, Patricia Woodruff of Woodinville, Washington; sister, Deborah Seaney and brother-in-law, Jerry Seaney; niece, Margaret Seaney; nephew, Niko Seaney; his rescue pup Hyrda; and his cantankerous cat, Neo.

To honor Todd's memory, we are holding A Celebration of Life on Sunday, November 20th at 2pm at the Skagit Golf and Country Club, located at 16701 Country Club Drive, Burlington, WA 98233. Skagit Golf and Country Club .
